Our team was selected to oversee the 28,000-square-foot interior renovation of a tenant space located on the former Copley Hospital campus in Aurora, Illinois. This transformative project, commissioned by VNA Healthcare, delivers a comprehensive suite of medical services—including primary care, urgent care, behavioral health, laboratory services, obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatric care—to the East Side community. It represents a critical milestone for both the healthcare provider and the City, marking the reintroduction of accessible healthcare services to this underserved neighborhood for the first time in over 25 years.
The project’s significance is further underscored by its setting within a historically important structure. The building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, required a sensitive and respectful design approach to preserve its architectural integrity while accommodating the needs of a modern healthcare facility. 845 Design Group collaborated closely with the building owner, city officials, and preservation consultants to ensure that the renovation respected the historic character of the structure, while creating a welcoming, functional, and efficient environment for both patients and staff.
Through thoughtful planning and design, the renovated facility reflects the community’s heritage while supporting its future. The revitalized space now stands as a beacon of renewal—symbolizing not only the physical transformation of a long-vacant hospital campus but also a reinvestment in the health and wellbeing of the East Side community.
